June 16: News and Notes

Rockridge Voice is thrilled to celebrate our growing community of more than 600 eZine readers and the thousands of visitors to our website who believe in the value of our work—thank you! Every other week, we explore the heartbeat of Rockridge so we can share the stories, updates, and local happenings that keep our neighborhood dynamic and interconnected.

This month, we added a Resources Page to our website where you’ll find an informational database that includes links to planning documents, local government contacts, historical photos, Oakland’s General Plan, 2020 Census data, and more. Watch this space as it expands.

There’s plenty to discover in this e-news edition: find out where to enjoy standout Happy Hour Specials, glimpse into a neighbor’s beautiful garden, get updates on existing and returning local businesses, and learn the latest news about proposed local construction plans that would reshape the future of Rockridge.

On the topic of development, if you missed last week’s amazingly well-attended meeting at Claremont Middle School regarding the two proposed senior center projects (thank you, organizers Upper Broadway Advocates and Rockridge Neighbors for Sensible Housing), we’ve included a recap so you’ll stay informed.

You’ll have another chance to engage in person this Thursday, June 18, when Ellis Partners—the developers behind the 6230 Claremont project—host an important community meeting (see more details below). All are invited and encouraged to attend.
