The Rockridge District Association (RDA) has appointed Devan Gregori Meneses (pictured above) to serve as its first Executive Director to help guide the organization into its next chapter. In the newly-formed role, Devan will serve as the public face of the organization while overseeing staff and contractors, leading fundraising and sponsorship development efforts, and representing the broader Rockridge business community.
The position is designed to strengthen and complement the existing team. Operations Manager Chris Jackson will continue managing day-to-day operations throughout the Rockridge district, including beautification projects, tree maintenance, and safety coordination with the local police and MACRO (Mobile Assistance Community Responders of Oakland). Jody Colley will continue leading the marketing efforts, event planning, and administrative operations.
“Chris handles everything on the ground, while Jody does an extraordinary amount of work behind the scenes. My role is to provide strategic direction and organizational leadership that ties everything together, and to free Chris and Jody up to focus on what they do best,” says Devan.
In addition, the Executive Director role also allows for a dedicated capacity for fundraising and merchant development—areas that previously lacked full-time attention. “The RDA has been doing important work for decades. This role is about making sure we have the professional infrastructure and organizational stability to continue doing that work well and to grow,” Devan continued.
Rockridge remains one of the East Bay’s most active and vibrant commercial corridors, a success the RDA says depends on ongoing advocacy, investment, and community involvement. Devan emphasized the organization’s open-door approach and encourages local business owners and residents to stay connected.
“Rockridge doesn’t thrive by accident,” said Devan, “It takes consistent investment and engagement. We want merchants and residents to know that the RDA is here, paying attention, and working on their behalf every day. If you have ideas, concerns, or just want to connect, please reach out.”
