The Temescal neighborhood will celebrate community, sustainability, and homegrown food during the 4th Annual Temescal Open Edible Garden Day on Saturday, August 1, from 10am to 4pm.
This free, self-guided event invites the public to explore more than 20 edible gardens as neighbors open their yards, patios, and growing spaces to share ideas, inspiration, and the joy of gardening. Participating gardens are open in two shifts—10am to 1pm and 1pm to 4pm—allowing both visitors and hosts time to explore throughout the day.
Hosted by the volunteer-run Temescal Open Edible Gardens community, the annual event offers visitors the opportunity to meet local gardeners, learn how food is grown in a variety of urban spaces, and exchange gardening tips, recipes, and stories. From thriving vegetable plots and fruit trees to creative container gardens, each stop highlights a unique approach to growing food at home.
Some hosts will demonstrate composting, seed saving, or natural pest management, while others may share homemade preserves, hot sauces, or other garden-inspired creations. Every garden offers a different perspective on cultivating food and building neighborhood connections.
The event is free and open to all ages. Advance registration is encouraged. Guests who RSVP will receive a digital map and garden guide with participating locations, opening times, and highlights for each garden before the event.
