Lovers of plants, community, and spring are invited to a Plant Sale and Open Garden on Sunday, May 3rd, 10am, at the Claremont Middle School Garden, 5750 College Avenue (enter at Birch Court). The plants available for purchase were grown by volunteers from the school community, and proceeds will go to the CMS PTA, which contributes to the school’s general fund.

Each year, a budget determines how those funds are used, helping to fill gaps created by Oakland Unified School District budget cuts—though the event is designed to be more of a community gathering than a traditional fundraiser. Plants will be priced at $6 each or two for $10, with a sliding scale — donations welcome.
Visitors can expect a lush garden filled with fruit trees, raised beds of flowers, and a variety of vegetables, along with fresh-baked treats from Bakesale Betty and coffee to enjoy while exploring, meeting neighbors, and picking up an heirloom tomato start. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly way to celebrate spring and get growing.
