The Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) invites residents to its next public safety meeting on Thursday, August 13, at 7 pm, upstairs at the Rockridge Library Conference Room. A hybrid Zoom option will also be available.
The NCPC meets every other month, providing a forum for residents to connect with public safety officials, discuss neighborhood concerns, receive crime and safety updates, and learn about programs that support community safety.
The Aug. 13 meeting includes:
A neighborhood crime and safety update from Oakland Police Department officers.
- A neighborhood crime and safety update from Oakland Police Department officers.
- A community discussion of current public safety concerns.
- A presentation on MACRO (Mobile Assistance Community Responders of Oakland) by Elliott Jones, MACRO Program Manager, and Tina Risker, MACRO Public Information Officer. A program of the Oakland Fire Department, MACRO provides a non-law enforcement response to eligible calls involving behavioral health and other nonviolent crises.

The Greater Rockridge NCPC meets on the second Thursday of every even-numbered month and serves as a liaison between residents and the Oakland Police Department. The council focuses on neighborhood public safety, crime prevention, information sharing, and community engagement. General neighborhood planning and development issues are addressed through the Rockridge Community Planning Council.
Reporting Crime and Emergencies
Residents should report crimes and emergencies promptly:
- Crime in progress: Call 510-777-3211 from a cell phone to reach Oakland Police Department dispatch directly. Landline callers should dial 911.
- Non-emergency crimes: Call 510-777-3333 or use the Oakland Police Department's online reporting system.
- Medical or fire emergencies: Call the Oakland Fire Department at 510-444-1616 for the fastest response.
Additional community resources include anonymous crime tip lines, information about police beats and Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils, the Community Police Review Agency for police conduct concerns, and MACRO for eligible non-law enforcement crisis calls.
The Greater Rockridge NCPC welcomes residents interested in building a safer, more connected neighborhood through collaboration, information sharing, and community involvement.
