Finding Art in the Everyday

Finding Art in the Everyday

Inspired by his mother’s love of painting, Edgar “Eddy” Lobel first picked up his camera as a way to explore his own creativity through photography. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a passion for both learning and making art, a path he took while attending special-education high school and on into college, noting that, “I'm also someone with a disability, so my creativity helped as a coping strategy.”

You might spot Eddy strolling through Rockridge with his trusty point-and-shoot, quietly observing the world around him. From time to time, he even shares his images by posting them throughout the neighborhood. He observes life from his own perspective, “It’s telling the story of mundane things, like people eating sandwiches… It’s the angles, lines, shapes, and shadows that reveal a graphic image of reality in one frame.”

Featuring images captured over the past few months, his work is on view for the second time at Hudson Bay Café, 5401 College Avenue. Stop by, grab a coffee, and take a moment to see our shared world through Eddy’s eyes, or visit AngryGoldstar.com.
