Aging in Place: What Kind of Places Do We Want to Live In? Place IT Workshop

As a senior, I'm tired of real estate developers, banks, and policymakers telling me how and where I should live. Too often, decisions about housing are driven by economics rather than by the everyday needs and aspirations of the people who actually inhabit these places.

Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2026
Time:  5pm to 7pm
Location: Rockridge Library, Upstairs Meeting Room,
5366 College Avenue
RSVP:
jamestrojas@gmail.com

That's why John Kamp and I are inviting Rockridge residents and others to join us for a hands-on Place It! workshop where we will use our hands, everyday objects, memories, and imagination to build our own housing and neighborhood scenarios. We will create our own visions for how we want to live as we grow older.

Together, we'll explore questions such as: What kinds of homes support independence? What streets encourage walking and meeting neighbors? What public spaces help us stay active, healthy, and socially connected? By building and sharing our ideas, we'll discover practical solutions drawn from our own experiences and begin shaping a community where people can age with dignity, purpose, and joy.
