Welcome to Rockridge Voice — a brand-new independent media site created by and for Rockridge residents. It’s a place to share stories, spark ideas, and celebrate what makes Rockridge special... and we couldn’t be more excited to launch.
Buoyed by an extraordinary wave of neighborhood support and a shared desire to continue their community service after many years at the Rockridge News, Anna Marks and Jo Ellis recognized an opportunity to create a welcoming media platform — one that represents a rich diversity of voices, engages a broad spectrum of topics and perspectives, and fosters meaningful conversation and participation.
Launched on January 11, 2026, this is a community-powered project at heart, fueled by creativity, curiosity, and passion. It reflects our amazing mix of writers and designers, photographers and filmmakers, artists and art lovers, parents, educators, teachers, learners, and visionaries who call Rockridge home.
Special thanks to Don and Bobbie Kinkead, whose enthusiasm and encouragement helped spark this new community news platform. Back in the early 1970s, when a high-rise was proposed near the soon-to-open Rockridge BART station, the Kinkeads helped neighbors find their voices. By posting flyers, hosting gatherings, and spreading the word, they brought people together and built a strong neighborhood coalition to push back. That spirit of community organizing eventually led to the founding of Rockridge News in 1986.
Rockridge Voice intends to continue Don and Bobbie’s legacy of providing free, hyper-local news — and we thank them for their vision and their blessings.
